Grantmaking

The William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation grantmaking programs are aligned with our vision, mission, and values and guided by four strategic goals: Impact, Family Engagement, Succession and Stewardship. Each of the Foundation’s grantmaking programs described below is administered by guidelines for each program area.

Responsive Grantmaking

Organizations receiving support from the Responsive Grantmaking program are aligned with the Foundation’s vision, mission and values; are family-centered; represent a community where O’Neill family members are actively involved; and meet the requirements and guidelines for each program area. Support is available for capacity building, special projects and general operations.

As part of the Responsive Grantmaking programs, the Foundation awards Rapid Response grants up to $5,000 each for time-sensitive needs of existing Foundation grantees. These grants are made on a first-come, first-served basis, in an expedited manner. Only organizations that have received a grant from the Foundation within the past five years are eligible to apply for Rapid Response support. Agencies with an active grant are precluded.

Responsive grants are made to organizations providing services in the following areas where O’Neill family members are actively involved in the communities where they live and work.

Washington, D.C.: limited to DC proper
Florida: Bonita Springs, Greater Orlando, Naples
Hawaii: Big Island
New York City: Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island
