T he following publications and articles related to activities of the William J. and Dorothy K. O'Neill Foundation are available through the Foundation office.

Family: The First Imperative, edited by William. J. O'Neill, Jr., 1995. In 1994 the Foundation brought together 22 leading thinkers, writers and practitioners in a Symposium to examine the root causes of family disintegration. The Symposium process and results, and the full papers of the participants, are presented in this book.

Fathers and Families: A Practitioners' Exchange, edited by Sheila A. Ferguson, PhD, 1998. A report describing the findings resulting from a conference in November of 1997, sponsored by the Foundation, for social service practitioners working with fatherhood programs.

"The $20,000 Surprise and Other Foundation Shakers", written by Anne Adams; New York Times, November 18, 1998. An article, featuring William J. O'Neill, Jr., describing new trends in foundation giving, including the investor approach.

"An Investor's Approach to Philanthropy", Institute for Private Investors, August, 1998. Reprint of a handout from a forum session presented by William J. O'Neill, Jr. comparing investors and philanthropists and showing how an investor's approach can be applied to philanthropy.

"Embracing the Investor Model," written by Susan Crites Price, published by the Council on Foundations, 1999. A monograph which tells the Foundation's story with particular emphasis on its strategy, family involvement and focus, partnership with a fatherhood project, hands-on approach to grantmaking, and investor philosophy.

"A Funder-Agency Partnership: The Fathers and Families Together Project", written by Howard Husock, 1998. A case study developed by the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University describing the venture capital model partnership between the Foundation and the Center for Families and Children for the "Fathers and Families Together" project.
